On this page, I will list any upcoming events that will be happening in the near future in or around Temagami including areas from Marten River through to the Tri-Towns of New Liskeard, Haileybury and Cobalt (known now as Temiskaming Shores). All events will be community based and have a tourism based theme. Some events might have a free entrance while others might have a gate charge. If anyone knows of any events that are not listed here, please forward any information available on that event and I can then post it. We have accommodations available for any out-of-town guests attending these functions.


2020. With all this Covid going around, I guess I don't have to tell you that everything has been cancelled for this year. Let's hope that 2021 will return some sanity to the situuation and there will be events for all to enjoy again.

July long weekend. The Lions Club will hold their annual flea market on Saturday in downtown Temagami every year. Anyone wishing to make donations can contact any of the Lion members. There will also be a steak fry on Saturday evening. Tickets are available from Lion members. Call Bob at 569-4412 for more info.

The third weekend in July, every year. The second annual Temagami Canoe Festival will be held at the waterfront. The Temagami Canoe Festival is a 2-day, indoor-outdoor, multistage, ticket and family-friendly celebration of canoes, culture and music. Activities include: canoe displays, demos and workshops, canoe race events, indoor and outdoor stages of live music, food and craft vendors, historical talks and guided old growth forest hikes, and much more.Visit www.temagamicanoefestival.com for more details or call Carolyn at 705-569-2904 to reseerve table spaces.

August long weekend. The Temagami Legion will host its annual fish fry on Saturday evening. Tickets available at the Legion. For more info, call the Legion at 569-3350 or Ray at 569-2995.

August long weekend. The Temagami Lakes Association (TLA) holds its annual flea market at the end of the Lake Temagami Access Road (the Mine Road) all day Saturday. For booth space and more info, contact the TLA at 237-8927.

The last weekend in July, every year. Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec (an hour north of here) hosts its giant annual truck show. Full details at www.elrodeo.com .

September 13, 14, 15, 2019. The 116th New Liskeard Fall Fair. www.newliskeardfallfair.ca

The Temiskaming Smallmouth Bass Association Series will hold several weekend live release bass tournaments across northeastern Ontario from Larder Lake to North Bay & Mattawa areas all summer from May to the September Classic. The Temagami tournaments will be on Lake Temagami and on this lake (Cassels/Rabbit) on a different weekend every year. The Fall Classic series will be held in September on a different lake each year. Nastawgan Trails Inc., a group promoting non-motorized trail use throughout the Temagami area and along the Ottawa River/Lake Temiskaming shoreline, will hold its annual dinner again at a time and place yet to be determined. More info at www.nastawgantrails.org.

The third Saturday in November every year. The Temagami Chamber of Commerce's annual Wild Game Dinner, silent auction and dance with a live band will be held at the community arena in Temagami North. Tickets are $35.00 in advance and $45.00 at the door and they will be scarce; get them early. Call the Chamber at 569-3344 or 1-800-661-7609 for ticket reservations and more details.

Something new this fall/winter is a program for people of all ages interested in some slightly strenuous exercise that doesn't invovle yoga. It's every Saturday and involves hiking and/or snowshoeing. Snowshoes are provided.
